Understanding Short Bowel Syndrome

Also known as Short Gut Syndrome — a clear overview of causes, symptoms, treatment, and living with SBS

📖

What is Short Bowel Syndrome?

Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS), also known as Short Gut Syndrome, is a rare, complex, and serious medical condition. It is characterized by the body’s inability to absorb enough nutrients, water, and vitamins because a significant portion of the small intestine is missing or non-functional.

Because every patient’s remaining anatomy is unique, SBS requires highly personalized care and ongoing multidisciplinary medical oversight.
